Police recapture and transfer to Managua the former Matagalpino politician Abdul Montoya Vivas

The former politician Abdul Montoya Vivas64 years old, originally from Matagalpa, was recaptured by the Ortega Police on Monday, April 3, within the framework of the Holy Week religious festivities.

Information recently disclosed on the lawyer’s Twitter account Yader Morazana former official of the Nicaraguan Judiciary, points out that the opponent was arrested in the city of Jinotega.

Justice at the service of the Nicaraguan regime would have accused Montoya for the alleged crime of illegal possession of weapons; the case is in charge of the Sandinista Judge Diana Jarquin, the one who according to the specialist in administration of justice, is the daughter of a militant of the Sandinista dictatorship, known as “Chico Plomo”.

After more than a week in detention, the lawyer Morazán told this Tuesday Article 66, that on Saturday, the eighth of the same month, the former politician was transferred to Managua and that he is currently being held in District III of the capital’s Police.

Montoya Vivas was kidnapped for the first time in August 2018. The Ortega dictatorship accused him of allegedly shooting and murdering a citizen, identified as Lenin Díaz Mendiola, during a protest march on the 11th of the same month, in Matagalpa.

For its part, the former politician Ivania Alvarez reported that after his release in 2019, through the controversial Amnesty Law, the Matagalpino “was low profile; he did not get involved in anything, so it is not known what motivated the recapture ».

April, the month in which more arbitrary detentions are reported

After the more than 20 arrests in the context of the five years of the civic rebellion of April 2018, Álvarez recalled that for these dates an increase in siege, persecution and arbitrary detentions is reported.

He stressed that this year, the Ortega dictatorship focused on attacking, not only against political leaders or those released, but also against the leadership of the Catholic Church in Nicaragua. “I think that this persecution has no political face, because since there is no more known face of opposition, the only remnant of resistance is in the temples and – the Ortega dictatorship – has gone with everything and against everyone.”

“I think it is time to look for other ways to resist, but that those of us who are outside do work so that the people who are in Nicaragua feel represented and know that there is a voice that denounces the persecution against the Church and against Nicaraguans,” added the opponent.

Referring to the arbitrary detentions during Holy Week, the lawyer Yader Morazán explained that the Nicaraguan authorities are obliged to formalize all detentions before the judge within a term of 48 hours.

“Relatives, pay attention to present a Habeas Corpus (amparo) Appeal for illegal detention in favor of the people detained in the context of Easter,” the jurist recommended.

This means of communication learned, through human rights defenders, that up to now none of the detainees, with the exception of Abdul Montoya Vivas, had been charged before a competent authority. If the dictatorship prosecutes them, the list of political prisoners will increase to more than 50.
