The Colorado Party resolved to ask the coalition partners for one more week to establish a position on the pension reform, after President Luis Lacalle Pou accepted two conditions that the Cabildo Abierto had set.
It is about the proposal to take the 20 best years for the calculation of the basic retirement salary, instead of the 25 that the current project installs, and to break down the chapter that refers to the investments of the AFAPs abroad.
After a meeting of the benches of senators and representatives, legislator Conrado Rodríguez said that on Thursday the 13th they will ask for a new intermediate room until April 20 to continue “exchanging” and studying the numbers.
“We have some numbers that give us that it would be necessary to put US$ 300 million per year,” Rodríguez said at a press conference.
The deputy pointed out that currently “the conditions are not given to be able to advance in the vote” and announced that they are preparing a series of proposals under the understanding that there is a “new scenario.”
“The negotiation was reopened, we hope to reach an agreement so that the social security reform can come out,” he said.
