Colombians used ATMs less in 2022

A report from the Financial Superintendence indicates that during 2022 the total operations carried out by clients and users of the financial system showed an increase of 29% compared to those carried out in 2021, going from 11,160 million to 14,367 million.

Monetary operations, that isthe number of movements, handling or transfers of money made by the clients and/or users of the entities during 2022 they totaled 6,353 million, with a growth of 30% compared to 2021.

On the other hand, non-monetary transactions, that is, those that represent the number of balance inquiries made by clients, reached 8,014 million, which represented a growth of 28% compared to a year ago, said the Superfinanciera.

According to the entity, the mobile banking and internet channels continued to be the most used because through them 8,548 million and 1,929 million operations were carried out respectively, representing 59% and 13% of the system and at the same time showing variations of 41% and 5%, with respect to the volumes carried out in 2021.

According to the Superfinanciera, the dataphones continued presenting a significant increase of 27% last year, ranking third, with 1,221 million operations, equivalent to 9% of the system.

On the other hand, the operations carried out through ATMs were 873.6 million, representing 13.75% of monetary transactions, a figure that represents a slight drop compared to 2021, when payments were made through these devices. 15% of the total monetary movements.

Within the operations report corresponding to 2022 presented by the Financial Superintendence, it is found that the amounts traded they increased by 21%, going from $9.198 billion in 2021 to $11.093 billion last year.

For its part, the report indicates, the channels least used to carry out operations were audio response and ACH with 29 million and close to 264 million, respectively.

In the same way, it is mentioned that monetary and non-monetary operations carried out in offices went from 390 million in 2021 to 432 million in 2022.

Regarding monetary operations, according to the Superfinanciera report, The first place, and also the one that grew the most, was mobile telephony, since in 2021 these totaled 1,043.5 million compared to the 1,748.8 million made last year.

In 2022, through the audio response system, 517,506 monetary operations were carried out, a figure that has been registering consecutive falls, from 2.7 million in 2019, 1.5 million in 2020 and 787,809 in 2021.
