For example, he indicated that “55% of the park was obsolete, that was the inheritance that the government received and it took over that inheritance. Resources were allocated to the replacement of the vehicle fleet, and we have just awarded 1,054 armored cars”.

The Interior authority also delved into measures such as the renewal of the uniform and the inclusion of bulletproof vests.

In turn, he pointed out that on the northern border “the policemen received a 10% risk allocation, historically it had always been like that. This government decided to change it to 20% because there are more risk conditions in that area.”

I veto a journalist: “We cannot normalize it”

The Undersecretary of the Interior also addressed the veto of the Carabineros general TOlex chavan to the journalist Paulina de Allende-Salazar at a press point, after she mistakenly referred to the murdered non-commissioned officer as “paco” Daniel Palma in an office

“I believe that a basic principle of democracy is freedom of the press and the authority cannot condition that freedom of the press. Therefore, I agree that these are facts that we cannot normalize,” Monsalve commented.

“One can understand the context but you also have to look at the principles that guide the conduct of the country, and it seems to me that these types of events are not the ones that should lead the country,” he added.

Let us remember that De Allende-Salazar mistakenly referred to police officer Palma as “paco” on Thursday. After that, General Chaván said: “if the journalist Paulina de Allende, who was capable of treating one of our martyrs as ‘paco,’ is present here, that journalist cannot be here.”

“We are not going to give any statement while that journalist is here. Then I will come back and we will give the statements with the prosecutor,” he reiterated.

For the fact, the Mega channel fired the journalist. “Today’s action (…) which has been public knowledge, openly transgresses the editorial line and the programmatic guidelines of our media outlet,” she said in a statement.
