The mayor of the municipality of Bojacá, in the department of Cundinamarca, Jhon Alberto Molina Mora, said that an investigation is being carried out at the local level to determine the origin of the mechanical failure in one of the attractions of the El Porvenir park, located in the urban area of the municipality.
The president said that after holding a municipal council of Risk Management, the events that left several people injured, especially adults and minors, were evaluated.
In a statement, the mayor assured that the initial information they received is that the accident occurred in the mechanical attraction known as ‘Pirate Ship’.
“We learned that this device suffers a failure presumably of mechanical origin, causing this mechanism to come off its axis and turn completely, which caused two people to remain trapped and suspended in the air within the same attraction,” he said.

He stressed that the timely intervention of the Civil Defense, the Red Cross and the Fire Department, they made it possible to care for people who suffered some bruises and injuries in different parts of the body.
The report from the local Mayor’s Office is of nine people who were treated by medical personnel who arrived at the emergency site where dozens of citizens were enjoying a family afternoon.
The report indicates that seven people were valued at the site, including three minors who suffered blows and bruises in the body, they were discharged after a quick check-up.
A 21-year-old person had to be transferred to the municipality’s health center, which was released after a series of medical examinations.

In addition, it is confirmed that a 45-year-old person had to be referred to the Matilde Hospital in Madrid, Cundinamarca, due to presenting a greater affectation such as whiplash syndrome, after presenting pain in the neck muscles that caused him to be referred to a higher level hospital center for medical attention.
“A whole series of preventive examinations were carried out, which allowed a normality in mobility to be given after evidencing that he was conscious in the time of hospital transfer”, he pointed out.
