Starting at 12:00 this Friday, the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohawith the presidents of the Senate, Juan Antonio Coloma (UDI) and the Chamber of Deputies, Vlado Mirosevic (PL), together with the Minister(s) Secretary General of the Presidency, Macarena Lobosand his pair of Justice, louis cordero.
The authorities continued the legislative coordination and the regulation of the use of force that will be presented to Congress next week. The instance was carried out after the death of the first corporal of Carabineros Daniel Palma and the deaths of the cape Alex Salazar and the sergeant Rita Olivares.

After the meeting, which lasted an hour and a half, Senator Juan Antonio Coloma assured that with the Minister of the Interior they agreed to dispatch 10 new projects related to security.
“In 10 days we have already approved seven very significant projects, the Naín-Retamal Law, among others, and we have established 10 new projects, which have to do with the way of notifying their administrative functions, usurpation norms, economic crime norms, changes in provisional liberties for residents. An agenda that is very important to restore security,” the senator announced.
Among the initiatives contemplated, there is also the one created by the Ministry of Security.
Regarding the cybersecurity project, the president of the Senate explained that “it is a law that must be taken very carefully, because crime of this nature is massive and is part of the problems that are taking place.”
In addition, he stressed that they want to continue with the legislative agenda “and this is the step we are taking today with Minister Tohá, with Minister Cordero and Minister Lobos.”
“It is a powerful effort from everyone, and that is what we are doing,” added Coloma.
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Vlado Mirosevic said that the projects that will be processed in Congress are being prioritized.
“It is important to legislate quickly, but it is important to legislate well. That is why we have this meeting to have basic coordination (…) the objective is to reach an agreement on how the legislative agenda begins and ends. There are many bills and we have to define which will be the most important, and that is what we are doing,” said Mirosevic.
He added that during this week they hope to share the list of projects that “are very important. Many of them have been requested for a while, such as that municipalities and regional governments can also participate in the territories regarding prevention and combating crime.
“There is a combination of factors here so that this is virtuous and that we react quickly against organized crime and drug trafficking, and that we hit it hard because while we politicians fight, crime advances,” explained Mirosevic.
Government Announcements
The projects are added to what was announced by the Government after a meeting with the high command of the Carabineros and the PDI.
The Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalveindicated that in the meeting they addressed three points: guarantee the safety of police officers, close gaps in human resources of both police forces, and develop an intervention plan in 30 communes.
Monsalve announced “patrols with three officials and not two. Second, to achieve as a universal standard, both for the Carabineros and the PDI, that police vehicles have armored doors”, also “to modify the legal limitation for the call to services of police officers, that they are retired police officers, that they can be called to service, that it has a legal limit that we want to modify”, among other measures.
