The United States increases the cost of non-immigrant visa applications

He Department of State of the United States announced new fees for non-immigrant visa applications, which would take effect as of May 30.

The agency explained through a release that these increases will be applied in the applications of this type of visas for reasons of tourism, business, studies, temporary work or commerce, in accordance with a note published on the Spanish website of the CNN television network.

The report adds that based on the characteristics of the application, non-immigrant visas can be divided into two groups: those that are based on applications and those that are not.

The document provides details on the price increases and specifies that in the case of applicants to visit the country for business or tourism with B1/B2 classified visas, the amount will increase from 160 to 185 dollars.

Likewise, the fee for non-immigrant visas to perform temporary work, which correspond to categories H, L, O, P, Q and R, increases from $190 to $205.

The visas required to establish commercial relations in the United States also registered an increase. For example, treaty trade issuers (E1), treaty trade investors (E2), and treaty applicants in a special occupation (E3) will increase from $205 to $315.

The Department of State explained that this increase in the prices of procedures related to non-immigrant visas was established based on the real cost of providing this type of service.

He noted that the fees for non-petition non-immigrant visas were last updated in 2012, while for other categories they were modified in 2014.

He also stressed in his statement that he remains committed to facilitating legitimate travel to the country “for both immigrant and non-immigrant travelers.”

The Embassy of the United States in Havana reminded its users that this diplomatic representation does not offer consular services for non-immigrant visas.
