Senator Chahuán recoils from the request for the resignation of Undersecretary Vergara and now assures that “he is put to the test”

“I want to request the resignation, today, of the undersecretary for crime prevention (Eduardo Vergara). President, today, you have to make changes in your political team and the first is the departure of the undersecretary,” said the president of Renovación Nacional, Francisco Chahuan, when arriving in the morning at the Palacio de La Moneda. Hours later, in the meeting with the undersecretary of the interior, Manuel Monsalverecoiled: “The Undersecretary for Crime Prevention is put to the test.”

Senator Chahuán arrived shortly after 10:30 a.m. at the Government Palace to request the President to make use of the 2% constitutional to contribute against security cystitis, regarding the death of the policeman Daniel Palma. This power allows the President to overdraw the annual budget by 2% in the event of a crisis or catastrophe. However, in the meeting, which Chahuán described as positive, many other matters were discussed.

Those were some of the issues that were discussed and that made senator RN change his position.

After the meeting, the president of the Chile Vamos party said: “Security requires working more together than ever.” After being asked about his request for the resignation of Undersecretary Vergara, he said that “signals must be given as to whether there are capacities to confront crime with force or forcefulness or finally there must be political responsibility.” Given this, Chahuán said that Vergara “is put to the test” for the task, where there is “three carabineros dead in three weeks”.

Despite the good tone that he acquired in both the government’s reaction and the approval of the Naín Retamal law and the other measures, the opposition senator pointed to Appruebo Dignidad for his intentions to go to the Constitutional Court for some aspects of said law. “One calls for Approve Dignity not to continue torpedoing the will of the State to move forward to resolve the security crisis.” He added, affirming that those parties of the ruling party “are doing the President a disservice.

“It does not continue to torpedo the will of the State to move forward to resolve the security crisis that we have today and here the Communist Party and the Broad Front are doing you a disservice, the president and they are breaking it down in their desire to advance in greater security for everyone,” he closed.
