MADRID, Spain.- The state airline Cubana de Aviación announced this week that it will restart its flights in the Argentine market.
As stated by the company in its social networks, operations between Havana and Buenos Aires will begin on May 2.
The informative note specifies that the flights will have a weekly frequency, on Wednesdays. It also indicates that the flight will have a stopover in Cayo Coco, in the province of Ciego de Ávila.
Argentina will be the first country in the region to receive regular flights from the Cuban company again.

After the recent announcement, and due to the bad reputation that the airline has among Cubans, Internet users have expressed: “I do not get on a Cubana plane even if they give me the ticket, if they keep the planes like Havana, I better stay.” on land”; “That company is a disaster, just like everything in Cuba.”
In February of this year the airline canceled temporarily the flights between Havana and Nueva Gerona (Isla de la Juventud), due to technical problems detected in the aircraft used to cover the route.
Over the last few years, the company has been forced to suspend its routes within the Island on several occasions due to the lack of availability of suitable aircraft. Operations were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic and were not reinstated until March 2022.
Cubana de Aviación operates only with its own aircraft, since the lease contract with the Mexican company Global Air ended in May 2018.
The aircraft of this company, scarce, have a very bad reputation among national and foreign users, due to the lack of maintenance. However, Cubans have to continue flying in them, due to the shortage of transportation on the island.
