The deputy of the People’s Party (PDG), Gaspar Rivas, was chosen as the new president of the Education Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies.
Specifically, the parliamentarian got eight votes in favour, while his opponent, deputy Eduardo Cornejo (UDI), only got five preferences. After his arrival, Rivas thanked “the deputies of the ruling party, who honored his word regarding the administrative agreement signed last year.”

Regarding what will be done in the commission that he will now chair, Rivas assured that “we are going to have a very busy agenda” and that the focus will be on all those people who benefit from the education system.
“I want to give guarantees to all sectors, regardless of any ideological bias, that what is going to prevail in this presidency is going to be the interest of Chileans, students and those who benefit from the system of education, both public and private, not pettiness and political pettiness”, concluded the now new president of the Education Committee of the Lower House, Gaspar Rivas.
