1 Carlos Slim
The Mexican founder of the Telecom communication company is the first billionaire in the region to appear on the Forbes list. According to the publication, he is the eighth richest person in the world with a net worth of US$94 billion.
2 German Larrea Mota Velasco
He owns the largest copper mining company in Mexico, which also has operations in the United States and Peru. As of today, it has US$ 28.3 billion and is ranked number 48 on the list.
3 Iris Fontbona
La primera mujer de la región en aparecer en el ranking dirige Antofagasta Plc, propietaria de minas de cobre en Chile y cotiza en la Bolsa de Valores de Londres. Con US$23 billones está en la posición 66 del listado de Forbes.
4 Jorge Paulo Leman
The Brazilian investor is the majority shareholder of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer. He currently has US$16.9 billion to his credit and ranks 99th on the list.
5 Vicky Safra and her children
The Safras inherited the fortune of Brazilian banker Joseph Safra. As of today they have a net worth of US$ 16.9 billion and it is ranked 101 on the list.
6 Ricardo Salinas
El mexicano Ricardo Salinas dirige la cadena de televisión mexicana número dos, TV Azteca, y la compañía de servicios financieros líder de Latinoamérica Grupo Elektra. Salinas posee US$ 12.3 billones y está en el número 140 del listado de Forbes.
7 Eduardo Saverin
The young Brazilian co-founded Facebook along with his Harvard classmate Mark Zuckerberg in 2004. He became an investor, and in 2022 his investment fund B Capital raised $250 million to invest in early-stage startups. As of today he has US$12 billion and is in position 144 on the list.
8 Marcel Herrmann Telles

9 Carlos Alberto Sicupira
Like his colleagues Herrmann Telles and Lemman, Sicupira is a shareholder in the Anheuser-Busch InBev brewer. As of today he has US$9.1 billion and is in position 211 on the list.
10 Marcos Galperin
The founder of Mercadolibre—a platform that has a presence in 18 countries in the region and also in Portugal—is the first Argentine to appear on the list. He currently has US$5.5 billion and is ranked 471 by Forbes.
Those who lead the ranking
Bernard Arnault is the richest in the world. With US$228.1 billion to his credit. Arnault leads the way thanks to his LVMH empire of 75 fashion and cosmetics brands, including Louis Vuitton and Sephora. In January 2021, LVMH acquired the US jeweler Tiffany & Co for US$15.8 billion in what was the largest acquisition of a luxury brand in history.
The second largest billionaire is the American Elon Musk. The Tesla and SpaceX founder is worth $191 billion. He also has 74% of Twitter.
The podium closes with the creator of Amazon Jeff Bezos. The e-commerce giant has US$126.7 billion and currently owns less than 10% of the company’s shares.
