Panama receives a new batch of bivalent vaccines with 20,400 doses

A new batch of 20,400 doses of bivalent vaccines arrived in the country this Tuesday, April 4, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported through the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI). According to the authorities, 6,000 of these doses are pediatric to apply to children between 5 and 11 years of age; while 14 thousand 400 doses will be to reinforce the Continuous Vaccination Program from the age of 12.

“We inform the general population that the monovalent vaccine will no longer be produced, all the people who are waiting to receive a new dose of the monovalent to complete the primary schedule, we are going to vaccinate simultaneously with incomplete schedules such as people with complete primary scheme to all people with bivalent as a booster to the entire population”, Hewitt highlighted.

Hewitt called on parents to strengthen immunity against the virus in their children between the ages of 5 and 11, with the pediatric bivalent vaccine.

Hewitt explained that the new batch of doses with the bivalent vaccine will be distributed equitably according to the population denominator, to all regions of the country.

“Equally, public and private hospitals will have the same” he added.

This new group of bivalent vaccines will reinforce and increase the percentage of people with the bivalent and vaccination doses, highlighted the EPI coordinator.
