Regime expels from Nicaragua the priest Donaciano Alarcón, of Panamanian origin

The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo expelled from Nicaragua on Monday afternoon the priest Donaciano Alarcón, of Panamanian origin, who was one of the managers of the María Auxiliadora Church, in San José de Cusmapa, in the department of Madriz.

Although there is still no official information on the expulsion of Alarcón, religious sources told Article 66 that the event occurred in the afternoon, after the priest participated in the Chrism mass of the Diocese of Estelí.

“He was detained in the Cucamonga sector and they did not give him more time than to come and bring the papers to Las Sabanas (a municipality in the department of Madriz) and they took him to Honduras,” declared one of the religious sources, who preferred not to be cited for security reasons.

According to a publication of the María Auxiliadora Parish, of the Diocese of Estelí, this Holy Monday said Chrism mass was carried out in which all the consecrated priests belonging to that jurisdiction participated, for whom they requested prayer.

Another parishioner stated that the religious’s arrest was due to his asking for prayers for Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, Bishop of Matagalpa and a political prisoner of the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship.

“Yesterday (Sunday), they asked for a prayer in that parish for Monsignor, but it was not he who officiated the Mass, however, people believe that they retaliated against him because he was the one who on other occasions raised prayers for Monsignor Álvarez,” they said.

Expelled by El Espino

Another religious source, originally from the San José de Cusmapa municipality, shared for his part that the religious was taken out of Nicaragua through the El Espino border. “I understand that friends from the same place accompanied him to the border,” he said.

“In fact, one of the priests who was with him was the one who informed me that he was already in a congregation in Honduras and that he was already in good hands,” the source said.
