The platform estimate was released two weeks after the completion of the International Conference of Solidarity with Venezuelan Refugees and Migrants and their Host Countries and Communitiesan initiative convened by the United Nations Refugee Agency (Acnur), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the European Union and the Canadian government.

On March 16, on the second day of the conference, the Interagency Coordination Platform for Refugees and Migrants from Venezuela stated that “three years after the first conference in solidarity with refugees and migrants, the situation has become complicated.” He noted that the impact of the pandemic exacerbated the crisis.

For the instances, although regularization and documentation initiatives have been implemented in the region, the international community must maintain the protection of refugees and migrants from Venezuela and invest in the communities that host them.
