Computer course enabled for residents of Bañado Tacumbú

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) through the Bañado Sur-Barrio Tacumbú Rehabilitation and Housing Program (PRVBT), enables the Basic Computer Operator course for the population of Bañado Tacumbú.

This course is carried out in partnership with the Directorate of Digital Inclusion of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC), who approved the course content and teacher, in addition to making the fully equipped room available for carrying it out. The training started this Saturday at the MITIC Information Access Center with the assistance of 40 participants.

Jacinta Meza (24 years old) mentioned that she decided to take the computer course because she aspires to get a job as a secretary, assistant, receptionist or supermarket cashier. “It’s very difficult to get a job if you don’t know, even if it’s the basics of computing, and for me it’s a very good opportunity to learn because I can also bring my children with me,” she highlighted.

training It lasts four Saturdays for each group, including a final evaluation. The development of the modules is in charge of the teacher Norma Franco, computer systems analyst, from the CIRD Institute.

For each module, the participants will receive a certificate issued by MITIC. It is worth mentioning that During the development of all classes, a childcare space is available for the children of the participants. of the course.

After the development of the first module, called “Informatic introduction”, The facilitator maintained that the experience with the students was fantastic, “we had an excellent call, the interest of the inhabitants of Bañado Tacumbú to improve themselves and want to learn was noted,” she celebrated.

Likewise, the teacher highlighted the high participation of women in the course. “I noticed that there are a majority of female participants, young mothers who came with their children, I congratulate them for their interest in organizing their time to be able to participate in a practical course that will help them in any task or job they are looking for.”

This training is part of a training cycle in productive activities with a gender focus, framed in the Social Management Plan of the PRVBT, financed with an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) loan and executed by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, through through a consultancy with the Center for Information and Resources for Development (CIRD).

The purpose of the PRVBT is to improve the quality of life of riverside families in the southern area of ​​the city of Asunción, through the construction of 1,500 low-income homes, the environmental recovery of the neighborhood, and the creation of better economic opportunities for families in the Bañado Tacumbu neighborhood.
