The Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) confirmed that the skeleton found on March 20 in San Juan del Sur belongs to the 51-year-old anesthesiologist Aracely Varela Bonilla, reported missing since February 16.
After the confirmation that the remains found belonged to the doctor, they were handed over to their relatives and buried the afternoon of that same day in León. Official media assure that the Police continue with the investigation of the death of the doctor to capture the person responsible, for now, four people have been under investigation of whom only Varela’s ex-spouse and a friend have been known.

A relative of the family told the digital outlet Dispatch 505 that the result was already expected because in the place where the skeleton was found there were articles of clothing that belonged to the doctor, the key to her room and even her charger. Her relatives were called to legal medicine to recognize the objects.
Valera’s remains were found approximately 600 meters southeast of the Local Court of San Juan del Sur, in a mountainous property that is located behind the José Alberto Barberena neighborhood and is known as Sonzapote.
According to a friend of the doctor’s, the day of the disappearance, the deceased went out to dinner with a man of unknown identity at a fry-up in San Juan del Sur. They moved to the food store aboard a black motorcycle and from that moment his whereabouts are unknown.
“She called me to tell me that she was going to eat slices with a friend who brought her on a motorcycle to the house where she lived,” Rivas confirmed to the media in the Nation Anyélica Martínez Orozco, a friend of the anesthesiologist.
In addition, Martínez Orozco explained that he had lost communication with Aracely since 7:00 p.m. last Thursday, when he last spoke with her on the phone and two hours later he called her again, but she no longer answered her calls.
Aracely Varela Bonilla was originally from León, but lived in San Juan del Sur for her work, she worked as head of the anesthesia area of the municipal hospital.
