Santa Cruz in women and Cochabamba in men were proclaimed champions of the U-17 Women’s and Men’s Basketball Federation Cup that ended on Friday in Tarija.
The tournament, which was organized jointly between the Bolivian Basketball Federation and the Vice Ministry of Sports, started on Monday with the presence of nine teams that played at the Guadalquivir Coliseum.
Participated: Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, Beni, Tarija, La Paz, Potosí, Oruro, Camargo and Montero. Chuquisaca did not attend.
They were divided into two groups, one of five and the other of four. for them to play in round-robin matches, of which the best two in each series advanced to the semifinals and later the finals.
The Santa Cruz team was crowned champion undefeated. In the group stage they had no rival, beating La Paz (95-18), Potosí (72-51) and Cochabamba (65-49).
In the semifinals he also had no trouble winning and he did on Beni (83-40).
The definition of the title was before the hostesses, with whom they staged a match worthy of a final because they were even throughout the four quarters.
The first court was in favor of the Cruceñas (15-17), but in the second quarter the locals recovered (42-35) and in the third the visit turned it around and took the lead by just one point (48-49).
The last quarter was not for the faint of heartsince the difference was only un point in favor of the cruceñas (16-17) who stayed with the crown (64-66).

Cochabamba also kept the title without losing any match. In the groups they defeated Potosí (97-28), La Paz (84-40) and Santa Cruz (71-63).
In “semis” he had no complications to prevail over Beni forcefully (80-39).
The final was against the tarijeños, who were a tough rival for the vallunos.
The first quarter ended in favor of Cochabamba (12-23), in the second the difference narrowed (30-37), as in the third (53-57).
The last court was the most even of all because there was only a difference of two points in favor of the visit (21-23) that was finally crowned champion (74-80).
