The Government has decided to keep fuel prices unchanged for the month of April, after receiving a report from the Regulatory Unit for Energy and Water Services (Ursea). The announcement was made by the Minister of Industry, Omar Paganini, during a press conference held this Thursday.

According to the report presented by Ursea, there have been minor variations in the import parity price (PPI), so the retail prices of gasoline, diesel and supergas will remain unchanged during the month of April, compared to the prices in force since March 1.

Last month, it was decided to reduce the price of diesel by $2 per liter, compared to February, which brought its cost to $56.99. This reduction will be maintained for at least the next 30 days. According to official figures, diesel has accumulated a decrease of 12% since June 2022.

For its part, the average price of gasoline will remain unchanged compared to the last two months, and will continue to cost $71.89. The same will happen with supergas, whose price will remain at $73.35 per kilogram.

Prices tend to stay global

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Fuel Price Committee has notified the implementation of new prices for gasoline and diesel in the UAE from April 1 of this year. These prices, which will be valid throughout the month, have been recently announced and confirmed by the aforementioned entity.

Said determination has been the result of a careful review and analysis of fuel prices, in order to satisfy the needs and requirements of the public. In this sense, the UAE Fuel Price Committee has announced that it has decided to reduce the price of both gasoline and diesel.

The value of oil produced by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has experienced a decrease in its price in recent days. Specifically, the daily price has gone down to 77.53 dollars per barrel, which represents a reduction of 0.19 dollars, that is, 0.24% compared to the previous day. Also, the OPEC barrel price average for March has fallen to $78.51 per barrel so far this month, compared to $81.86 per barrel in August last year, which which implies a decrease of 4.09%.

In the last year, the price of a barrel of OPEC oil has decreased by 30.9%, a significant change in the market. If we observe the history of the OPEC crude oil price since 2003, it can be seen that the price of a barrel of oil reached its highest value, 140.73 dollars, on July 3, 2008, while its minimum price , $12.22, was recorded on April 22, 2020.
