The Chilean retail giant, Falabella Retailhas announced the decision to close its store located in Mallplaza Alameda, at Estación Central, starting next April 20. According to the firm, this decision is part of its “space optimization plan” and its continuous evaluation of each of its stores to respond to customer needs and contribute to the company’s profitability.
The company has also announced that the closing process contemplates an “employee assistance plan” that includes the relocation of employees to other Falabella business units and a job reinsertion support program for those who leave the company.
This decision means that Falabella ceases to have a presence in a shopping center located near the Central Station metro, the train metro station and high-flow bus terminals, ending its 15-year history in that commune.
The closure of the store in Mallplaza Alameda has surprised many customers and workers, who have expressed their sadness and concern about the situation. Some regular customers of the store have expressed their regret at the news and have indicated that they will have to look for new options to make their purchases.
