Agreement signed Venezuela – UN
In September 2022, the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela and the UN signed the Framework Agreement for Cooperation for Sustainable Development 2023-2026, the purpose of which is to build a roadmap aligned with national priorities under the global commitment of the 2030 Agenda. .
With this initiative, the Venezuelan Government, led by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, ratifies the commitment to the comprehensive defense of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals for the well-being of the national population.
Venezuela-WHO: joint work
On the other hand, and with the aim of strengthening the country’s health system, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, held a meeting on Tuesday with Cristian Morales Fuhriman, representative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Organization World Health Organization (WHO) in Venezuela.
The information was reviewed by the Foreign Minister on his Twitter account, in which he explained that the meeting has the purpose of “evaluating and promoting joint work in health matters, always for the benefit of the Venezuelan people.”
Likewise, both officials discussed issues about the deployment of vaccination campaigns in the national territory and the joint work between Brazil and Venezuela to care for the Yanomami ethnic peoples who are in a vulnerable situation in the neighboring country, indicated a press release. of the Chancellery.
WHO representation in Venezuela
It should be remembered that in 1958 the PAHO/WHO representation in Venezuela was formalized, and since then it has developed technical cooperation in health and responds both to the national priorities established by the country and to the Organization’s own policies. , referred the WHO.
PAHO/WHO technical cooperation in Venezuela is carried out in coordination mainly with the Ministry of Popular Power for Health (MPPS) and agencies attached to it. It also cooperates with other public sector institutions, research centers, academia, scientific societies and civil society.
