Law for People with Autism Spectrum Disorder is approved

In its ordinary session on Tuesday, March 28, the National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved the second discussion of the Comprehensive Care Bill for People with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In this way, it was sanctioned and will be sent to the National Executive for its promulgation and subsequent publication in the Gazette, as established in article 213 of the National Constitution.

After having read the texts pending approval of the second discussion, Deputy Dayana Lapenta (AD/Nacional), who suffers from Asperger Syndrome, took the floor with great emotion and thanked the plenary for the legislative work carried out through this new standard that seeks the integration of people with this type of disability.

Out of consideration for sensory hypersensitivity, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, asked those present in plenary to celebrate with the gesture of joy used by people with Autism Spectrum Disorder that the law will now be sent to the National Executive to be endorsed and sent for subsequent publication in the Gazette.

Rodríguez mentioned that the educational structure must be flexible so that it adapts to the particular characteristics of people with ASD and the work environment, you must adapt and make your relationship with these workers more flexible.

“All the critical aspects that this society suffers must be reflected in the text and respected by public and private institutions, this in order to guarantee the human rights of all Venezuelans,” he said.

It should be noted that in the creation of the legal text, it had the participation of the Venezuelan Autism Organization, the Asperger Foundation of Venezuela, the Venezuelan Society for Autistic Children and Adults, the Más Iguales Foundation, the Mi Ángel Simón Foundation, the Aspie Foundation , Blue Fathers, Mothers and Grandparents.
