Evo Morales and Luis Arce again showed differences yesterday at the celebration of the Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS). The cocalero leader was the one who threw the most darts and the president was uncomfortable and annoyed by the former president’s allusions. Morales asked Arce to modify his cabinetHe gave him advice to improve the economy and criticized ministers. The head of state admitted the differences and said that the MAS belongs to the social organizations. Vice President David Choquehuanca also attended the event, but did not deliver a speech.

“I am very sorry brother Lucho, some ministers are going to have to read article 8 of the Constitution: el ama sua, la ama llulla (don’t be a thief, don’t be a liar). There is not much economic movement, we are not like before, they all know. It is important to review and improve public management, brother Lucho president has to improve his cabinet to do good political management and finish his term as president, ”Morales told Arce in person.

The cocalero leader insisted even more on the economic question. “We must remove from the economic team the orthodox conservatives who, under the pretext of lowering inflation or avoiding inflation, only make them submit to the fiscal discipline of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), taking care of the macroeconomy to punish small producers and the poor people, that is what we are experiencing”, he affirmed.

At the beginning of his speech, Morales expressed his certainty about the outcome of the upcoming elections. He assured that the MAS will win again. He did not talk about candidates, but it was in the second minute of his speech that he began criticizing Luis Arce.

Morales told him that he had information that some officials had arrived in the Cochabamba tropics with the mission of “shouting Lucho, Lucho” and that If they didn’t, they would lose their job. Arce just shook her head and gave a shy smile. Then he started attacking the ministers. He did not give names, but he did refer to an authority that allegedly requested information from the DEA. “It is one thing to enjoy the honey of power and another of the gall of struggle,” said the former cocalero president.

Then he told Arce that he speaks up front and that he does not act behind social networks. He put the case of the so-called “digital warriors”, who according to the MAS leader they attack him and that if they do not do that job they are fired. Arce already showed an annoyed face. He shook his head and didn’t smile. Evo said that he has reports of officials who were fired “for being evistas” and that he will pass the list for them to be rehired.

Arce preceded Morales’s speech and appeared with a more lukewarm speech. He had arrived in Chapare with Choquehuanca – who did not give his speech at the event – and with the Minister of the Presidency, María Nela Prada. Few applauded him in his speech.

“We can have differences and there is no need to be afraid of differences. The differences will always exist because they are the product of the advance of the dialectical process that the political instrument has. To the extent that progress is made, to the extent that it grows, to the extent that hegemony is generated, to the extent that the process is consolidated, it is healthy that there are differences”, Arce assured.

In the end, the two shook hands, spoke very little, and left the event.
