The National Solidarity Assistance Program Pension 65of Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) will enroll 45,000 new older adults from all over the country this year.
“This year Pension 65 will increase its coverage significantly after four or five years. Already last December, more than 13,000 older adults from the Amazon were incorporated into the program after waiting three years for their affiliation.”, detailed the executive director of the program, Mabel Gálvez, during her participation in the III Meeting of Productive Knowledge of the Kunturkanki district, in the province of Canas, Cusco region.
At the event, more than 180 users of the program showed traditional practices in natural medicine, gastronomy, weaving, handicrafts, agricultural production, dance, and oral traditions. They also presented productive enterprises.

In 2021, the Saberes Productivos de Pension 65 intervention was reactivated by 466 municipalities and more than 13 thousand users of the program participated in it. In addition, 4,167 users developed productive enterprises and received technical assistance from Saberes Productivos, thereby improving their quality of life.
Director Gálvez highlighted that Pensión 65 works with the Ministry of Culture to strengthen the capacities of the technical assistants of Saberes Productivos to identify and preserve intangible heritage, and recognize older adults who are exponents of said heritage.
In Kunturkanki, the director also supervised home visits to two users of Pension 65 by program promoters. In the district, Pension 65 has 358 users; in the province of Canas, 2461; and in the Cusco region, 38,101. Throughout the country, it serves 568,599 users.
