He highlighted that, in his opinion, far from creating a currency, integration in the region could be improved, such as the Pacific Alliance or the Bi-Oceanic Corridor between Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Chile.

Chilean President, gabriel boricHe commented that Latin America has to “advance more in terms of integration” before considering the idea of creating a common currency, proposals that have been raised by Brazil and Argentina.
“Integration is a very long road and to think that a single currency in Latin America per se is going to integrate us is naive and willful. We have a long way to go before,” said the Chilean president in a meeting with young people in the framework of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit in Santo Domingo.
Boric listed a series of initiatives that, in his opinion, could improve integration in the region, such as the Pacific Alliance or the Bi-Oceanic Corridor between Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Chile.

“When we manage to move further in that direction we can perhaps have the discussions on a single currency, but it seems to me that it is too soon,” he added.
It is important to mention that the presidents of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva; and Argentina, Alberto Fernández, proposed in January the creation of a currency, which would initially be used for trade and transactions between the two countries and which raised doubts about its viability.
