MADRID, Spain.- The death of Cuban actor Rubén Breña has shocked the community of actors and Cubans in general. Brena died this thursday in Havana due to erosive gastritis at the age of 69.
Colleagues by profession have filled the social networks with messages recalling his quality as an artist and as a human being.
Rest in peace, dear and admired Rubén Breña. Little by little we are saying goodbye. Hugs to his family and closest friends. You were a great colleague and an excellent professional”, said Hector Noas.
For his part, Nancy Gonzalez he recalled television work with Breña, such as the Cuban novel Nightlife.
“How sad your departure, colleague. Many years have passed since this novel in which we were the best of friends. I admired you and appreciated your seriousness at work as well as your grace and cordiality off the scene,” said González.

Another of the most recognized faces of Cuban cinema and television, Alberto Pujol, stated: “I am very sorry to hear the news of the death of First Actor Rubén Breña. He was a great actor, a lover of his profession and highly professional. The news and the conditions in which Breña died are very sad.”
Regarding these conditions, it is worth noting that this Wednesday it went viral on social networks that Rubén Breña was admitted to the intensive care unit of the “Hermanos Ameijeiras” Hospital and that the care center did not have the medications the actor needed.
One day later, and hours before his death, the hospital itself posted on Facebook that “from the first moment” the patient had had “all the treatment required for erosive gastritis.”
