Oil workers from the state of Anzoátegui spoke out this Wednesday, March 22, about the corruption scheme that currently exists in the industry, which has led to the arrest of high-ranking officials.

«We had been warning about what was happening in the industry for months, but they did not pay attention to us, the theft of the 3 billion dollars could be avoided. It is time to take workers into account, we know everything that is missing and what are the critical points of the industry,” said Juan Salazar, president of the Oil Workers Union.

In this sense, Salazar called on the new oil ministerPedro Tellechea, as well as the president Nicolás Maduro, to work hand in hand with the oil tankers to guarantee the operation of the industry.

For his part, the executive secretary of the Unitary Federation of Oil Workers of Venezuela (Futpv), Raúl Parica, rejected that this type of action has been carried out when industry personnel do not receive good salaries.

“The money was stolen by some false revolutionaries, while the workers are going through hardships. We know the industry like no one else, it is time to change the model and accept worker participation », he emphasized.

While Richard Barreto, from the Coalition of Basic Workers, said that “if there is no social comptroller of the workforce, this can continue to happen, that they continue to steal, in all state industries.”

The oil workers expressed their support for the anti-corruption measures applied by the Maduro administration, and said they were willing to provide material of criminal interest to eradicate the mafias established within the country’s main industry.
