The former Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli assured that he is leaving “with my head held high” after being dismissed this Tuesday, condemned for the drift of the Sevilla team, located two points from the relegation places in the League.
“It’s my turn to say goodbye to a city already some colors that I carry in my heart”, Sampaoli stated in a letter published on his social networks after his departure from the Nervionense club.
“I leave with my head held high for the attitude at all times, because We are in the quarterfinals of the Europa League and because we put a lot of effort to take this story forward,” said the Argentine coach.
“Football does not always return us with happiness the insomnia that we dedicate to it. But I have no doubt that it was worth offering and putting my heart into this shield,” added Sampaoli, who arrived in Seville last October to start a second spell at the helm of the Andalusian club.
“When they called me to returnI thought it was a good option to close a first stage that, somehow, had been left open”, he recalled.
The Argentine coach has already led Sevilla in a first stage from July 2016 until his departure in May 2017 to train the Argentine team, with which he lost in the round of 16 of the 2018 World Cup in Russia against France.
“Sevilla is the first team in my career in which I try a second chance. And I can certify that, despite the fact that the circumstances were different, my love for this shield has not broken and continues to be enormous,” he concluded.
Sevilla announced on Tuesday the dismissal of the Argentine before the poor performance of the team, located just two points from the relegation places to the Second Division, despite the firmness in Europe where it is in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
