Kriscovich case: Cardinal apologizes to the family of Belén Whittingslow

The note signed by the cardinal Sean Patrick O’Malley is directed to Mónica Castañe, mother of Belén Whittingslow.

In the note, the metropolitan archbishop of Boston admitted his ignorance of the legal norms in Paraguay, but likewise expressed “sincere apologies and requests for forgiveness for the pain that we were eventually able to inflict on Belén and her entire family”.

He added that the Paraguayan Church, through its pastors, is not oblivious to that search for justice and the suffering of the young woman’s family who is a refugee in Uruguay, after the complaint she made for harassment against the lawyer and professor at the UCA Law School, Cristhian Kriskovich, was dismissed.

“I am assisted by the conviction that justice founded on a faith based on ethical and moral principles will prevail”, added the cardinal, who was visiting our country a few days ago, an occasion that was used to ascertain the case.
