Tareck El Aissami presented his resignation as Minister for Oil on Monday, within the framework of the investigations carried out in Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), for alleged acts of corruption.
Through his account on the social network Twitter, El Aissami explained that his resignation is due to fully collaborate in the process.
“By virtue of the investigations that have been initiated into serious acts of corruption in PDVSA; I have made the decision to present my resignation as Minister of Petroleum, with the purpose of fully supporting, accompanying and backing this process, ”he wrote on the social network.
Similarly, El Aissami stated that, as part of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV)will be placed at the disposal of the General Directorate of the red awning, “to support this crusade that President Nicolás Maduro has undertaken against the revolutionary anti-values”.
“In the same way, in my capacity as a revolutionary militant, I place myself at the disposal of the leadership of the PSUV to support this crusade that the President has undertaken. @NicolasMaduro against the anti-values that we are obliged to fight, even with our lives”, he wrote in another message on the social network.
This weekend, they began to carry out a series of arrests against officials of the oil industry, as well as of the Judiciary and Legislative Power, for being involved in alleged acts of corruption.
Among the detainees, carried out by National Anti-Corruption Policeis the deputy Hugbel Roa (Psuv-Trujillo).
The Trujillo parliamentarian and former Minister of Higher Education is being investigated for acts of corruption that occurred in Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), according to sources in the judicial system.
Roa is associated with the PDVSA subsidiaries, specifically to Petrocedeño, a mixed state with shareholdings from France and Norway. “To speak with the president of Petrocedeño, you had to go through Hugbel,” said a source linked to the industry.
For this reason, the Attorney General Tarek William Saabreported the appointment of five prosecutors to investigate acts of corruption in which public officials are involved.
Through his account on the social network Twitter, Saab published “The Public Ministry informs the appointment of Prosecutors 50, 67, 69, 85 and 94 to investigate the serious acts of Corruption that link public officials in reprehensible criminal plots: We ratify thus our commitment to Justice and Truth.
