NATO member countries and the United States are cautiously following the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Moscow where he met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on a visit that began on Monday, March 20, and will last three days.
This is the first time since the start of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine that the Chinese president visits Russian territory, where commercial and even military ties with Putin are expected to join at a crucial moment where the giant Chinese economy can be of benefit to Moscow. .
China was in favor of a ceasefire to start peace negotiations but Ukraine flatly rejected this idea since it did not contemplate the departure of Russian troops from its territory.
Just a few days ago the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin for war crimes against Ukraine.
International affairs specialists see this visit as strong support from the Chinese government for the actions undertaken by Russia and this could escalate the conflict that began in February 2022.
