Theft of Fentanyl: You always want to break the rope on the weaker side, the Pharmacist

Angel Valdes | March 20, 2023

Jaime Olive, from the College of Pharmacists, in an interview with Radio Panama, explained about the path taken by medicines once they leave the pharmacy and what kind of controls are there in the Social Security Fund where he considers that they always want to “break the rope on the weaker side” in the case of the fentanyl theft.

“It already seems that pharmacists want to stigmatize us and what the school is warning that in this type of medicine that is dispatched from the pharmacy to other instances, in this case fentanyl, to the operating rooms, goes with a minimum protocol and the medicine is delivered by the pharmacist to those units in operating rooms, once these medicines are delivered to those levels, it is the responsibility of those who are in the service, their custody”, Olive explained.

The Office of the Attorney General of the Nation informs the public that it maintains two investigations open for the alleged commission of a crime against the Public Administration, among other crimes, for the facts recently published on social networks that are related to the loss of controlled use medicines.

In this case of the theft of Fentanyl in the Public Ministry, there are two open investigations for the alleged commission of a crime against the Public Administration.
