To date there are 15,645 cases of dengue in the country and during the last epidemiological week a person lost his life due to this disease, Jeyson Auza, Minister of Health and Sports, reported this Monday.
“There has been a drastic decrease in cases. Of the total of 15,645 cases, which is the accumulated data, (…) the incidence rate trend is decreasing (…) and for this week only one death has been reported, this is far from the 11 deaths that at the time they were reported weekly,” he said.
The incidence rate of dengue, per 100,000 inhabitants, decreased from epidemiological week six, when 3.5 were registered; until week 11, which reports 0.3.
According to the Ministry of Health, this situation was observed in the seven departments where dengue cases occurred. Even in Santa Cruz, which is the epicenter of the disease.
In this department “we have managed to lower the incidence rate from 5.4 to 0.4 this week,” said Auza.
However, he reiterated that, as happened in week nine, this disease at any time may have a variation in the data.
“Therefore, it is important not to lower our guard and contribute to the actions, above all, the elimination of mosquito breeding sites and the use of mosquito nets,” said the authority.
