In Bolivia, 25,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed each year, with cervical cancer being the most prevalent, the National Health Fund reported in a press release.

For this reason, on the occasion of World Cancer Day (February 4), the La Paz Branch Bolivian Cancer Society, in coordination with all branches, and the Ministry of Health, through the National Program to Fight Cancer, has convened a national table made up of key professionals from each part of the country, authorities and associations of cancer patients, to carry out the First National Forum in search of urgent actions in the fight against this disease.

Lijia Avilés, president of the Cancer Society of La Paz, pointed out: “The organization of this forum stems from the deep responsibility we feel to be able to prevent, cure and alleviate the suffering that our patients face, we are witnesses of their sacrificed fight that many times They carry it alone, so our goal is to help design effective strategies that guarantee timely access to treatment.”

The earlier cancer is detected and diagnosed, the greater the chance of a cure.

The basic goals of cancer treatment are cure, prolongation of life, and improvement of the patient’s quality of life.

In the world it is estimated that there were 20 million new cases of cancer and 10 million deaths from this disease that punishes humanity.
