The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, is traveling this Sunday (19) to Christmasin Rio Grande do Norte, to monitor the actions of the National Force in the fight against criminal attacks in the state.
At least 252 attacks were made against the population, public buildings, businesses and vehicles since the last to haveTuesday (14), according to data released by the Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense of the RN this Saturday (18). For state authorities, the acts are a retaliation by organized crime to repressive government actions, which resulted in arrests in recent weeks.
The federal government has already ordered the sending of more than 600 National Force agents and federal forces, in support of state police troops. Through social networks, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced Dino’s departure for tomorrow (20), but the minister’s advisory confirmed that he will travel to RN later this Sunday.
“Since to haveOn Monday, through the Ministry of Justice, we are accompanying and assisting the government of Rio Grande do Norte in the fight against criminal attacks. I have been talking by phone with Governor Fátima Bezerra, who has done a great job in facing this crisis. Today I spoke with her and with Minister Flávio Dino, who is also monitoring the situation and will go to the state tomorrow to follow the work of the National Force. We will continue to give our full support to restore peace and protect democracy in Rio Grande do Norte”, wrote Lula.
Since last Tuesday (14), when there were the first records of violence, 116 suspects were arrested, including 18 arrested in Operation Normandy, launched by the Civil Police and the Federal Police on Friday (17). The RN’s Public Security and Social Defense Department’s balance sheet also records 34 firearms seized, in addition to four fakes, 98 explosive devices and 23 gallons of gasoline. There are also 12 motorcycles, two cars, money, drugs, ammunition and stolen goods recovered.
