Danilo Medina, president of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), assured that all the conditions are in place for the PLD to return to power in 2024, but that this requires the work, dedication and sacrifice of all its leaders to be able to restore hope to the Dominican people.
He stated that no one has done as much as the PLD for the Dominican Republic, which is why people are beginning to say in the neighborhoods and on the streets that the people were better off with the Dominican Liberation Party.
“We only have one path left to work and work so that the Party is reinstated again on August 17, 2024 in the National Palace and begins to lead the Dominican Republic along the paths of progress and prosperity that it has given it until now. this party to the Dominican people”, Danilo Medina specified in an intervention at the end of the meeting of the Central Committee of the PLD and that the Secretariat of Communications of the organization reviewed.
The former president of the Dominican Republic opened and closed the meeting of the Central Committee, in which the PLD’s presidential aspirations were approved; the Organizing Commission of the consultation for the selection of the candidate; and the procedure for the integration of the Ethics and Discipline Commission, both commissions will be directed by Alejandrina Germán, which was also accepted.
Danilo Medina said that the PLD has a renewed political force in a first phase and that it is also renewing its structures in the second phase, but it needs to have a figure so that the entire Party marches behind him or her in the coming months.
He considered that with today’s meeting the PLD has fulfilled an agenda that will be historic, because with the issues that were approved by the Central Committee they are shielding the organization.
He explained that the organization is anticipating this consultation process, because the PLD needs it and because it is what suits them, but that the choice of the pre-candidate and the candidate will be adjusted and will be based on the dictates of the electoral laws.
“We are preparing to select one or more candidates for the presidency of the Republic, but we want it to be clear that when the Central Electoral Board calls for the selection of the pre-candidate next year, based on Law 33-18, whoever emerges from that process He will be our candidate”, he commented when closing the meeting with his words.
On the other hand, the president of the PLD exhorted the members of the Central Committee present in the Assembly to join enthusiastically in the work of the Organizational and Electoral Line Commission that is working on renewing the party structure, essential to have a strengthened structure.
“Even with those of us who are here, it is enough to win an election, if we lead the country. That legion of men and women of political cadres who have gathered here today has the capacity to lead this Party to the presidency of the Republic again in the year 2024”, he emphasized.
Danilo Medina expressed that the PLD needs to govern the Dominican Republic again to conclude the unfinished work they carried out in favor of the Dominican people, and in order to return to power, the constant work of all its leaders and members is needed.
He reiterated that with the work of the PLD militants and leaders, nothing and no one will prevent the PLD from winning the elections; because it is the only organization in the Dominican Republic with roots in all the cardinal points of this country.
“There is not a section, a place, a municipality, a municipal district, where the Dominican Liberation Party does not have a presence. That cannot be said by any of the other parties that cohabit with us in the political landscape of the Dominican Republic. We have organized leadership and we have enough leaders. Then we are going to lead the Dominican people in the search and conquest of the power of the new one, it is up to you, what does this depend on… So we await your definitive integration”.
