According to unofficial information, the Anti-Corruption Police made several arrests of officials, including the mayor of the Santos Michelena municipality in Aragua, Pedro Hernández, and the Control Room judge with jurisdiction over crimes associated with terrorism, José Mascimino Marquez.
In an “anti-corruption” operation carried out by the National Police since this Friday, March 17, several officials from regional governments and from the military and judicial sectors were arrested. According to unofficial information, among those detained is José Mascimino Marquez García, Control Room judge with competence in crimes associated with Terrorism, who has handled most of the cases against political prisoners.
The Vice President of Communication, Culture and Tourism, Freddy Ñañez, released a statement from the National Anti-Corruption Police of Venezuela on Friday, in which he asked the Public Ministry (MP) to prosecute an undetermined number of citizens who “exercised functions” in the public power and that “They could be involved in serious acts of administrative corruption and embezzlement.”
In addition to Judge Marquez García, the president of the Criminal Judicial Circuit of Caracas, Cristóbal Cornieles Perret, was arrested, both will be presented in the next few hours before a control court for alleged “acts of corruption.”

In information released on his Twitter account, journalist Eligio Rojas indicated that “judge José Mascimino Márquez García was taken to Sebin to make a statement on alleged acts of corruption that occurred in the Criminal Judicial Circuit of Caracas.”

Likewise, the superintendent of Sunacrip (National Superintendency of Cryptoactives), Joselip Ramírez, was captured on Friday night. This official would have been removed by the ruler Nicolás Maduro through a decree published in the Official Gazette in which a restructuring board of Sunacrip is created, chaired by Anabel Pereira Fernández.
So far, no official information has been provided by the police authorities or the Public Ministry.
