Cyclone “Freddy”, which is about to become one of the longest tropical storms in the world, has already left at least 460 dead, in its passage through southern Africa, according to a report by the United Nations (UN). .

Most of the victims, 360 people, are from Malawi, one of the poorest countries on the African continent.

After the death of these people, Lazarus Chakwera, President of Malawi, decreed 14 days of national mourning and a state of emergency, stating that, unfortunately, the number of deaths is expected to increase as the damage balance is updated and new areas are counted. affected.

The cyclone already dissipated completely on March 15, reducing itself to a low pressure zone, but after its passage it affected more than half a million people.
