Provisional Measure 1,143/2022, which raised the minimum wage to R$ 1,302, was extended for another 60 days. The extension was authorized by Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco.Minimum wage MP extended for 60 days

In this way, Congress will have another 60 days to analyze the provisional measure, when it will be able to approve, reject or modify the text. The measure was edited in mid-December of last year and has been in effect since January of this year.

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has already announced that he will readjust the minimum wage to R$ 1,320 in May.

The current value of R$ 1,302 considers the variation in inflation measured by the National Consumer Price Index (INPC), plus a real gain of approximately 1.4%. However, the amount approved by the National Congress in the General Budget of the Union for 2023 is R$ 1,320, but, to take effect, it depends on a new provisional measure from the Executive.

Other MPs

Pacheco also extended, for the same period, two more provisional measures. One of them (MP 1,144/2022) which granted a special credit of BRL 7.5 billion to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to pay expenses of the General Social Security Regime Fund. The second, MP 1,145/2022, changed the values of the inspection fee for tachographs.
