More than 42,000 Venezuelans were regularized in the DR

Más de 42 mil venezolanos se regularizaron en RD

More than 42,000 people who took refuge in the Regularization Program for Venezuelan Nationals in the Dominican Republic with the status of “Non-resident Migratory Category”, reported the General Directorate of Migration.

Of them, more than 30,000 already have their regularized document and others are authorized to go to withdraw it, since at the time a month was granted as the deadline to register, according to reports.

But, the general director of Migration, Venancio Alcántara, clarified that they have not arranged to initiate a new Regularization Program for Venezuelan Nationals in the Dominican Republic, because this provision must be ordered by the National Migration Council as the body empowered to rule on the program reopening.

In this sense, Alcántara urged all foreigners who visit the Dominican Republic to do so legally and under the rules, since otherwise, they will have to face the consequences of the immigration policies promoted by the Dominican government, in order to counteract the flow irregular migration.

“The current situation of the PNV is pending processing of those who were in transit from phase 2 to phase 3 and once pronounced, the DGM is empowered to execute the provision, for which we reiterate that for a new reopening of this process, the official pronouncement of the National Migration Council and this has not happened,” he assured
