Government eliminates an association of Parkinson's patients and another of ex-combatants of the FSLN

The Ministry of the Interior (Migob) voluntarily dissolved the legal personality of four non-profit organizations and canceled 18 more organizations for allegedly “failing to comply” with the laws that regulate them.

The ministerial agreement 36-2023-OSFL, published in The Gazetteexplained that the Association of Retirees of San Jorge (AJUSANJ) requested Migob to cancel its legal personality, “due to voluntary dissolution agreed by its members (…), because the people who make up the association are older adults with health problems and do not have financial resources to carry out their activities”.

The Manolo Morales Foundation He also asked the Government for the voluntary dissolution of his legal personality, because the entity “has not carried out activities of any kind”, according to decree 37-2023-OSFL.

Likewise, resolution 38-2023-OSFL indicated that it requested its voluntary dissolution from Migob, since “since its registration in 2005, the association has not carried out social projects, due to the lack of economic resources.”

The Interior cancels 18 more organizations and voluntarily dissolves four.

The Mercy Association for the Women and Children of the Tropics it also dissolved its legal personality voluntarily “due to the lack of economic resources to carry out projects”, according to agreement 39-2023-OSFL.

The Ortega dictatorship continues to trample freedom of association in Nicaragua. The regime decapitated another 18 non-governmental organizations, arguing, according to the Interior, that they failed to comply with their legal obligations.

The Ortega administration pointed out that these entities have obstructed the control and surveillance of the General Directorate of Registration and Control of Non-Profit Organizations of Migob and have not promoted “transparency policies in the administration of funds.”

Once the 18 associations were outlawed, the Interior ordered the liquidation of their property and assets “applying the provisions of Law No. 1115.”

Among the NGOs that Ortega included in the list of more than three thousand canceled since 2018 are Christian, community, and medical organizations and entities that watch over women’s rights.

The organizations canceled are the Association of Former Bancaja América Latina Scholars of Nicaragua (AEXBAN Nicaragua), the Nicaraguan Hemophilia Association, the Christian Evangelistic Ministry Association, Esperanza Viva, the Nicaraguan Association of Radiology and Imaging (ANRI), the Association for Community Action and Effort (ADACE) and Nicaraguan Association of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technicians and Distributors (ANTDRA).

The list of those illegalized is also made up of the El Nuevo Nacimiento Christian Association (ACRINA), the Association of Women Workers in the Informal Sector (MOMATSI), the Vineyard Christian Ministry Association in Nicaragua, the National Association of Pastors of Love and Faith (UNPAF) and the of Ex-Combatants and Collaborators of the FSLN “Comandante César Augusto Salinas Pinell” (ASOCOMCOMARIZ).

Other organizations canceled are the Apostolic Pentecostal Mission Association “Jesús es Dios”, the Jinotega Rotary Club Association “Las Brumas” and the Impacto de Dios Pentecostal Church Association (AIPID), the Nicaraguan Association of Parkinson’s Patients (ANEP), the Eternal Rock Interdenominational Pastoral Association of Nicaragua (APIREN), Nicaraguan Association of Professional Insurance Agents, Mount Carmel Christian Association.
