From Colchane, President Gabriel Boric presents the “National Plan for Border Complexes”

Within the framework of his visit to Colchane, in the Tarapacá region, President Gabriel Boric announced a series of measures that seek to improve the border complexes in the north of the country, as well as a greater police force and road paving.

Specifically, it is the “National Plan for Border Complexes”, which will begin in all those facilities located in Colchane, Chacalluta and Ollagüe, and which will aim at modernizing the infrastructure of the 40 border complexes nationwide to strengthen the actions control and improve the working conditions of PDI, Customs and SAG.

This also includes a plan to improve the infrastructure and habitability conditions of the different observation points and command posts in the northern zone. in order to have a more effective and efficient border control system.

Likewise, two bills will be promoted that will seek to simplify and speed up the expulsion processes, for which the first National Migration Policy will be presented. In addition, the Government will seek to strengthen communications with neighboring countries to improve redirections.

A new police station will also be built for Colchane, which will be accompanied by an increase in the police force in the area.

On the other hand, there will be a restoration of 163 kilometers of Route 15 -between Colchane and Huara-, which will have an international route standard and will include a replacement of pavement and improvements in road safety conditions with signage and demarcation.

The mayor of Colchane, Javier García, maintained that his commune “has suffered for years from state abandonment.” However, he specified that “not only from this government but from the past, and of course (the President’s visit) was an opportunity for dialogue with the neighbors, caciques, councilors, myself.”

“We have given him a folder with 16 measures that, in our opinion, are important for the Government to comply with,” García said.
