These are the presentation dates of the pension and labor reform

The Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, reported this Tuesday that by consensus between employers and workers, the pension reform will be presented on Wednesday, March 22 and not on March 16 as initially planned.

(These are the changes that the pension reform would have).

“We need a little more time and therefore, from the Coordination Commission in full and unanimously, we have agreed that the pension bill will be filed on March 22, with the aim that we can effectively improve it and work his articles better, but also the general presentation”, said Minister Ramírez.

For its part, the labor reform will be presented this Thursday, March 16, as scheduled.

The announcement was made known at the end of the session of the Permanent Commission for the Coordination of Salary and Labor Policieswhere the draft document with 89 articles was shared and delivered.

“We have made a judicious analysis of everything, showing not only the articles that we have built, but also the technical studies that accompany it”, pointed out the head of the labor portfolio.

In this regard, the president of the Unitary Central of Workers, CUT: “The Government’s pension reform proposal includes several of the concerns of the union movement, protects the savings of Colombians in Colpensiones and in private funds. In the short term, it multiplies by 4 the number of pensioners that there will be in Colombia, something highly anticipated and very satisfactory for all the men and women waiting to have an income in this country”.

For his part, the president of the Society of Farmers of Colombia, SAC, Jorge Bedoya: “We have had a very hopeful meeting with the presentation made by the Ministry of Labor of what a pension reform can be, which goes hand in hand with the best interests of the workers of our country and for the economic stability of the entire system” .

Added: “In good time we made the decision and by mutual agreement to give ourselves one more space in that spirit of concerting, starting from the difference and extending this conversation until next week, the date on which if there is a consensus we can all go to file the reform pension to the Congress of the Republic”.

The draft of the new comprehensive social protection system for old age, presented by the pension director of MinTrabajo, Juan Carlos Hernández, focused on the pillars: solidarity, semi-contributory, contributory and voluntary savings.
