Dr. Daniel Salinas left the Ministry of Public Health

Dr. Daniel Salinas left the Ministry of Public Health

Dr. Daniel Salinas, in agreement with the President of the Republic, left his post at the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) after three years at the helm of the portfolio. The now former minister decided to leave the post on March 13, the date on which the health emergency was declared by Covid-19 in 2020.

Dance with the ugliest

The pandemic brought good and bad consequences. He positioned him as the highest valued minister in all the polls in the country, but it required an effort that perhaps was not expected.

That is why he will now dedicate himself to family and private activity, and will resume his clinical work as a neurologist.

According to the newspaper El País, on Sunday night, Salinas wrote a farewell message.

“Thanks to my father, my mother, brothers, wife, children and family that has grown. For your support, endorsement and endurance. They gave more than they owed and everyone banked. Many times accompanying with a message, others in silence or with a sob. Thank you,” she posted alongside photos of his family.

That publication was responded to by several people and references from different fields, who highlighted Salinas’ actions during the pandemic and the years that he was in front of the Ministry of Public Health.

several greetings

In addition to the responses to his tweet, Salinas received dozens of messages of public thanks.

Cabildo Abierto senator Guido Manini Ríos, leader of the party that brought him to the MSP, wrote: “Today the Minister of Public Health Daniel Salinas leaves office. He had to face difficult circumstances and, without a doubt, he rose to the occasion. The lobbyist, he knew how to be the minister of all Uruguayans, who always recognized what he did for the country, ”he began.

Manini Ríos added that in moments of “greater uncertainty”, Salinas “transmitted confidence”.

“With intelligence and humility, he consulted those who knew the most, formed the necessary team and adopted the measures that the moment required. He won the hearts of the Uruguayans. Thank you Daniel for so much! ”, He wrote.

The deputy and former member of Cabildo Abierto, Eduardo Lust, also wrote a message thanking Salinas.

“Since March 13, 2020, he took charge of the greatest challenge that a Minister of Health had to face in our history, today he retires, leaving a management that, having overcome it, will put him in the history of medicine. Thank you minister, my respects to the friend and partner ”, he published.

Senator Sebastián Da Silva of the National Party also thanked Salinas. “A few months ago when the Broad Front showed its most miserable face in the midst of the pandemic, you were a pillar for the government and one of the lights that shone out of the shadows. Thank you Daniel Salinas, Uruguay will remember you as a good and brave guy, ”he launched.

Salinas left his post this Monday and Karina Rando took over, who until now served as General Director of Coordination of the MSP.

Clearly, that of the Ministry of Health is not an easy position, especially in a stage as traumatic and exhausting as the pandemic. However, by dint of common sense, measure and balance, it can be said that Salinas at the head of the ministry left a very good image, recognized by locals and strangers.
