A few days after the first case of avian flu was detected in a poultry at an industrial plant in Rancagua, O’Higgins region, the Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) and the Ministry of Health ( Minsal), established a technical coordination table in conjunction with the private sector to address the problem.
As reported by Minagri, it has already been possible to control the perimeter where the first outbreak was identified, thus ruling out that plants close to it present cases. In turn, the authorities insisted that, for now, it is ruled out that the disease could impact the price of poultry products, such as white meat or eggs.

The Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela, pointed out that despite the fact that there was a momentary closure of the export certification for prevention, a recovery is expected in the short term.
“With the current data we do not see any major turbulence or storm in the industry. In fact, this momentary closure of export certification, which we hope to recover in the short-medium term,” Valenzuela told Radio Biobío.
For his part, the head of the Ministry of Epidemiology Department, Christian Garcia, stressed that no cases of influenza in humans have been detected. “It is important because we are getting ahead of ourselves, we are working, so that people protect themselves and know what the risk factors are,” he said.
The authorities emphasized the call to the public that, in case of seeing dead or dying birds, do not approach them. And that they should contact the SAG through their offices or the respective telephone numbers to report such cases.
