The Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá, gave details of the meeting she had with the general director of the Carabineros, Ricardo Yáñez, who, after calling on Congress to approve pending laws to reinforce police work, was summoned by the Secretary of State.
In this sense, Tohá explained that the purpose of the meeting was to “discuss the statements that the general director had made the day before to clear up any doubt regarding the support that the Government has in relation to police actions that are carried out within the legal mandate of Carabineros”.

In the morning hours of this Tuesday, it was learned of the death of the first corporal of the Carabineros, Alex Salazar, after a drunk subject ran over him last Sunday in the middle of a police procedure in Concepción, Biobío region.
In view of the above, the head of the Interior announced that “there will be a government presence at the funeral, we have to decide how we are going to organize it. It is very recent, we are only now knowing the data of the day, the place; but for Certainly we will be present. We will see how”.
