An official of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) was arrested after being denounced for having sexually abused his stepdaughter 11 years old, according to judicial sources.
The detainee is officer Fernando Velazco (26), attached to the PNB Anti-Drug Division, headquarters, Caracas.
The events occurred in Cartanal, Independencia municipality (Santa Teresa del Tuy), Miranda state, where the uniformed man lived with the girl’s mother, who was also arrested and identified as Rosa Leonela Ramírez Cedeño.
The situation was detected at the school where the victim studies, whose teacher observed her very withdrawn, talked to her and she confessed that she had been being abused by her stepfather. On at least five occasions she was sexually assaulted by the police officer, who continually threatened to kill her if she ever said anything about her, according to her initial investigations. The official made similar threats to the mother of the minor, according to the report.
From the school they reported the news to the Miranda regional police, whose agents proceeded to arrest the subject and notify the Public Ministry. It turned out that the girl was left in the custody of an aunt, by order of the Council for the Protection of Children and Adolescents.
