‘To bad, I will continue to go by helicopter’: Francia Márquez on travel

A few weeks ago they started criticism of Vice President Francia Márquez after some videos were released where he is seen arriving at his residence, in Dapa, Valle del Cauca, by helicopter.

At that time, Márquez responded to Senator María Fernanda Cabal, who was questioning her, that the use of this vehicle was for security issues after receiving threats and a frustrated attack against him.

Now, recently, in an interview for ‘Semana’, the vice president referred to the subject again: “LI am very sorry that they are going to sue me if I am doing something very wrong, but after having experienced a frustrated attack on the road that leads to my house, I am not going to give them the luxury of facilitating the conditions for them to kill me faster”.

Then, she continued saying: “Let it be a judge who defines that I am doing something illegal”, referring to those who criticize her.

According to her, those commentsand are based on the fact that she was a poor and black woman: “If it was white and elite, they wouldn’t be making a scandal because it’s normal. It is normal for an elite person, who was born in a golden cradle, to be transported in these equipments and aircrafts, but it is not normal for a woman who worked in a family home and who is now the vice president of Colombia to transport herself in that”.

“Why is the vice president poor, who comes from below, humble, so I can’t use it?” Márquez pointed out.

Likewise, the vice president assured that they can denounce her if she is doing something illegal. “And they can cry, they can scream, they can do whatever they want. They can sue me, if they want, and let it be a judge who defines if I’m doing something illegal or I’m doing the right thingadded Marquez.

After the statements, the questioning of Senator María Fernanda Cabal and Representative Hernán Cadavid did not delay. Even from the Cambio Radical party they requested that noor it was the appropriate answer for those who ask him for guarantees about the high expenses.
