He indicated that in the European Union, the United States and countries in the region that have made progress on the issue, what has worked the most are sanctions for non-compliance with the law and tax incentives, but that the Dominican Republic has lagged behind in that sense.
He spoke while participating in a technical consultation on the status of employment status of people with disabilities, organized by nine related institutions such as Foco, La Red, Dominican Access, Fundación Once, La Unión Europea, Cooperación Española and Fundación Francina, among others.
He indicated that in the internship program for People with disabilities that they tried to implement were surprised that they were able to place very few interns.
“I believe that, in the political sector, I am going to say it like this, political commitments eat up any labor intermediation strategyand this is not something from any party, it is from decades, however, the political sector is still the largest employer,” Hungary said.

Goodbye Ozunageneral manager of Dominican Access, explained that in the consultation a survey was delivered for the participants to fill out and now what proceeds is to tabulate the results to produce a report that would be part of the project.
“Many challenges to overcome were identified, some good practices were also known that can serve as a guide for other institutions to address the process and can appropriate these good practices,” he said.
The objective of the consultation was to identify opportunities and challenges in the process of inclusion of People with disabilities in the labor market of the country in order to present a proposal and solutions that allow progress in this common objective.
