AERODOM -a subsidiary of VINCI Airports- and the company Airport Passenger Service (APS) reached an agreement together with the group of porters to offer services in the Las Americas International Airport, José Francisco Peña Gómez (AILA), with the purpose of improving their working conditions and raising the level of services received by passengers transiting through this terminal.

The agreement reached establishes that from March 15 APS will manage the luggage trolleys and will offer personalized luggage services at AILA, offering a work contract to all the luggage carriers that already operate at the airport. Likewise, it contemplates attractive benefits and working conditions.

As part of the service improvements, a “clear” rate will be established and transparent” that will be published on the website and on posters around the airport terminal so that travelers know in advance the cost of accessing the luggage carts or opting for the personalized trunk.

«As in the main airports around the world, the AILA will have the SKYKART, the high-quality and comfortable automated dispenser for the management of luggage trolleys, which incorporates technological solutions to the service offered in the terminal» They explained in a press release.

Carlos Nunez, AERODOM’s Director of Non-Aeronautical Businesses said: “Thanks to this agreement, we will significantly improve the service we offer to the millions of passengers we receive, who will have baggage management according to the highest standards. At the same time, the almost 200 porters that operate at AILA will be hired with competitive salaries, medical insurance and greater protection”.

Núñez added that: “With the arrival of APS in the country, new technologies will be introduced that
will make it possible to offer a much more efficient and safe service, both for travelers and for
the staff that provide this service. He explained that joining this renowned company
international company with a proven track record in airport services will have a positive impact
for all travelers.

APS benefits for porters

APS,offered active porters who offer their services at AILA an attractive benefits package that includes indefinite employment contracts, with guaranteed employment during the first two years of management.

Likewise, they will offer an economic income incentive, health insurance, life insurance, bonuses and annual performance bonuses. Those porters who, due to their age, physical condition or health, do not wish to continue working under the umbrella of APS, will receive an extraordinary social contribution in gratitude for their years of work that seeks to assist the most vulnerable.
