Will Smith’s slap to Chris Rock was the premise of many jokes by the ceremony’s host, Jimmy Kimmel.

at the gala of the oscars last year Will Smith stormed onto the stage and slapped the comedian Chris Rockwho had joked about the shaved head of the actor’s wife, who suffers from alopecia.
The incident overshadowed the ceremony and shocked millions of viewers around the world. But she did not die there: this year she returned to the lavish gala of hollywood organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
“If any of you get upset with a joke and decide to move because of it (…) it will not be easy”said the entertainer Jimmy Kimmel referring to Smith’s outburst, as well as one of his songs.

Kimmel joked that anyone who tried to attack him would have to face a list of superheroes, including the Mandalorian (Peter Pascal), Spider Man (Andrew Garfield), and the “man Fabel”in a play on words with “The Fabelmans”of Steven Spielberg.
“There will be no nonsense tonight. We don’t have time for nonsense.”said.
In 2022, after the attack, Smith returned to the stage to receive the Best Actor Oscar for his role in “King Richard: A Winning Family”but later the academy decided to ban him from participating in the ceremony for a decade.
“If anyone in this theater commits an act of violence at any point during the show, they will be awarded a Best Actor Oscar and will be allowed to give a 19-minute speech.”joked Kimmel.
“Five Irish actors were nominated tonight, which means there may be another fight on stage tonight.”the comedian continued.

Then he took a more serious tone: “We want them to have fun, we want them to feel safe, and most importantly, we want me to feel safe.”
It didn’t stop there. References to the slap continued throughout the ceremony.
Halfway through the gala, held at the dolby theaterHe launched: “This part of the show kind of makes you miss the slap a bit, right?”.
